Vision

We envision a world of diverse, interconnected bio-regional ecosystems where people from all walks of life have the power to create opportunities and live in harmony with nature. This world is characterized by symbiotic relationships built on care, trust, and mutual support and non-violence is practiced in all aspects of living. Food systems are localized, communities prioritize ecological health and cooperation to ensure resources flow where needed, and production meets both human and nature's needs. Education is practical, land-based, and accessible to all, while governance is localized, decentralized, and participatory. The arts are highly valued, homes are affordable for everyone regardless of income, and all beings experience joy, wellness, safety and belonging.

WILDSEED seeks to build this liberatory world by fostering interdependence and collaboration, honoring our ancestors and future generations, growing our visionary imaginations, and attuning to the wisdom of Mother Nature.

We invest in this visionthrough

a range of interconnected initiatives

    • We support Black and Indigenous farmers and soil stewards of color with no-cost access to land

    • We employ nature-harmonious farming practices that integrate Indigenous knowledge.

    • We cultivate a food forest with fruit trees, native medicinal and edible plants, and mushrooms

    • We share harvests of food and medicine to those that need it most

    • We host wellness retreats for changemakers

    • We offer Radical Imagination Residencies for artists

    • We curate rites of passage immersions, youth and intergenerational programming

    • We host gatherings that center music, dance, poetry, art and ritual

    • We learn, practice and teach land-based survival skills (regenerative farming, wildcrafting, agroforestry, food preservation, off-grid energy, seed keeping, and more).

    • We create spaces that inspire intimate connection with nature

    • We curate programs that foster a deep sense of belonging to the earth

    • We offer residencies and affordable housing for BIPOC between 2 houses.

    • We are developing the capacity, design and legal structure for a multi-generational co-living community in the long term, with both private dwellings and shared buildings, facilities, gardens and common grounds.

    • We are cultivating WILDSEED as an intentional community of resource sharing and embodied practice

"Having the freedom to lay on the earth and be held by her, while my children wandered in the reeds and found their way to play and laughter -- this is why WILDSEED exists – so we can heal and be healed in relation to the land and each other, for our own bodies, for our babies, and for our ancestors."

Values

  • WILDSEED is a space to actively experience the change we devote our lives to, co-creating our present reality. We shape new cultural norms through just and sustainable relationships with ourselves, each other, the Earth, and society. We put our highest truths and deepest values into practice, striving to grow from our mistakes, embody balance and exist in our full potential.

  • WILDSEED was conceived from a gift in the spirit of reparations, redistributing resources to people historically disenfranchised. We center the health, wellness, safety, dignity, and self-determination of Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC). As a multiracial, BIPOC-led community, we work to overcome legacies of division and violence and reorient power through self-governance and cooperative decision-making.

  • WILDSEED is a sacred space for our bodies and psyches to recuperate from generational trauma inflicted by white supremacy, globalized capitalism, heterosexism, and patriarchy. We co-create sacred spaces to heal from past and present violence impacting our communities. We recognize all life as inherently valuable and hold health, well-being, and safety as our highest priority and a right of all.

  • Our decisions are grounded in a reverence for the interconnected nature of existence. We see ourselves as part of the Earth and honor the Earth as a sacred aspect of ourselves. We are devoted to caring for, rejuvenating and remediating the land and waters we have inherited. We embrace living in ecologically sustainable ways, considering our impact on the natural world and future generations.

  • We embrace a culture of collaboration, co-creation, compassion, generosity, and open-heartedness. We foster authentic connections with Spirit, Self, each other, and the land. We uphold unity and cooperation, overcoming scarcity and divisiveness. We embody interdependence by nurturing reciprocal relationships with all our relations.

  • We value creativity as a practice to collaborate with Creation, exercise our imaginations and shift dominant narratives. We are each born with the creative power, and creative energy ignites our inventive capacity to generate new ways of living. WILDSEED is a fertile space to foster diverse forms of artistic expression, providing time, tools and creative spaces to express our stories and manifest our visions.

  • We believe in the stewardship of shared resources within a solidarity economy. We prioritize mutual aid and the meeting of material needs through cooperative and democratic practices that honor the Earth. We advocate for wealth, land and power holders to redistribute resources to those most harmed by colonization and capitalism. We dedicate our labor to the work we believe in, building a thriving, interdependent ecosystem where economic practice reflects our collective resolve for liberation.

  • We are committed to developing liberatory approaches to addressing harm and resolving conflicts, centralizing the safety, healing, and agency of the people harmed, and the accountability and transformation of the people responsible through supportive systems, without relying on alienation, punishment, or state violence.

  • We are accountable to communities historically marginalized from land, including elders and people with chronic illness and different abilities. We are committed to transforming our buildings and landscape to make our resources available to folks with a wide range of access needs. We commit to maintaining strong ties to urban centers and providing sanctuary for those on the frontlines of ecological disruption.

  • As part of a global grassroots movement for radical social change, we aim to be a hub of organizing for groups and individuals devoted to transforming current oppressive systems into more just, peaceful, healthy, and sustainable futures. We host trainings, skill-shares, and hands-on workshops to increase our community’s capacity for self-reliance.

  • We cradle the long view of history in our hearts as we embark upon intentional human evolution. We sustain meaningful relationships to our ancestors, our families, and our cultural traditions. We honor the dignity of elders and children by caring for their unique needs and valuing their wisdom. WILDSEED aspires to be a permanent, autonomous haven for healing, refuge, and sustenance for generations to come.
